Nelson Chiropractic and Pilates Center of Atco, NJ joins more than 200 Pilates studios around the world in an event sponsored by Shape Magazine, called Pilates for Pink. P4P is raising funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) throughout the month of October. Nelson's event will take place on Saturday, October 20th.

"We decided to participate in the Pilates for Pink campaign because of the many students who practice Pilates at our studio who are breast cancer survivors," says studio owner Kerri Nelson, who is also a Doctor of Chiropratic. This event is a great way to increase awareness and let the public know how many women have conquered breast cancer and used Pilates to reclaim their strength, flexibility, self image, and confidence. Plus, this event gives students an easy and fun way to contribute to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and help make a difference.

Pilates is an innovative exercise system aimed at developing core control, according to Nelson. The exercises are designed to accommodate any level of fitness and they are truly results-driven. "I introduced every one of my patients to the the proper way of breathing and organizing their bodies in movement" using the Polestar Pilates system. Before she knew it, patients were hooked and wanted more once their care plans had ended. Nelson opened the first professional Pilates studio in South Jersey to offer rehabilitative Pilates in a group or private environment.

As part of the Pilates for Pink campaign, Shape magazine is also sponsoring a large-scale Pilates for Pink event on October 7th, in Union Square Park, New York City. Six classes will be held throughout the day, beginning at 10:15am and ending with the last class at 5pm. Sign up online for these classes, as space is limited.
