This fall the new TV lineup is powerfully focusing its attention on strong, successful women. Maybe it's a "sign" for the upcoming presidential election. Or, not. Regardless, women seem to be taking the lead for the 2007-2008 primetime. With the past hit Sex And The City, it seems the abundant success looked mighty tempting as ABC and NBC try for another go with the women of the millennium.

The creators of Sex And The City may have been going through withdrawals after the final episode of their ultimate triumph because they've created a clone. Whoops! Did I say, "clone"?! They say that's not what it is. Cashmere Mafia is based in New York City with Lucy Liu leading a cast of four successful, powerful women who spend an exorbitant amount of time talking about and dealing with their own personal relationships. But, remember, it's not a clone of Sex And The City. I've heard rumor that the four women are lesbians and they spend time helping each other out of awkward situations with men, but so far that's only hearsay. And if that is the case, then it's not a clone. Right?

Sex And The City was such a huge hit, huge enough to have a movie created from it for the big screen, but personally it never really captured my attention. I did, however, try to survive a couple of episodes, but after no more than twenty minutes I just had to hit the remote control to find something more to my liking. I just don't find it entertaining to watch unrealistic, over dressed, city women with enough money to wipe out hunger in a small country while they whine about petty little personal problems as if they are tragedies. So I don't see myself racing home to see Cashmere Mafia any time soon.

ABC didn't stop there this new season. They also have another new drama scheduled that may be a bit different. It's based on James Patterson's novels about city murders and a group of women who solve the crimes all while dealing with and talking about their own personal problems and relationships...well, ok, but they are solving murders. It's named the Women's Murder Club.

Even though I don't watch TV, good to know women are taking the lead in the fall lineup.
