According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Public Information Office, O.J. Simpson was arrested at his Palms Casino hotel room in connection with the alleged armed robbery of Alfred Beardsley in his Palace Casino hotel room last Thursday. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept. Public Information Office press release says that Simpson is being charged with robbery with a deadly weapon (2 counts), assault with a deadly weapon (2 counts), conspiracy to commit a crime, and burglary with a firearm. The press release goes on to say that Detectives are still looking for other suspects in this case: Clarence Stewart (Black Male Adult) 53 years old, resident of Las Vegas, Nevada. Michael McClinton (Black Male Adult) 49 years old, resident of Las Vegas, Nevada. Tom Scotto (White Male Adult) Unknown age and residence. And one other unidentified White Male Adult.According to Captain James Dillon of the Las Vegas Police Dept., "he (Simpson) was very cooperative and there were no issues" associated with the arrest. The lead investigator and arresting Detective, Lt. Clint Nichols said upon his arrest, Simpson immediately invoked his right to an attorney. He went on to say that the decision to move in and arrest Simpson came after the investigation into the robbery produced corroborating evidence that definitively implicated Simpson as being involved with the robbery.
Clark County District Attorney David Roger said that his office is moving forward with charges against Simpson, including two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, coercion, conspiracy to commit robbery, and burglary with a deadly weapon. All of these charges are felonies. Roger went on to say that "he is facing a lot of time."
Also arrested, prior to Simpson's arrest, was Walter Alexander. He was arrested on Saturday night for two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, and burglary with a deadly weapon.
