Lily Dale, New York - Psychic Community: A Great Summer Vacation Spot
essentially a small community of self-proclaimed “Spiritualists” who open their gates to the public during the summertime months. The official definition of a Spiritualist, according to the Lily Dale Assembly is “One who believes, as the basis of his or her religion, in the continuity of life and in individual responsibility”. If you are at all interested in the unknown mystifications of our universe and ourselves as human beings, this is a great vacation getaway. Or even for skeptics, who do not believe in healing or magical powers, go check this place out for yourself. You will surely be amazed.

In order to live in Lily Dale, the residents must pass a test proving that they are a medium, a healer or more commonly, a psychic of some sorts. As a tourist there are many places in the little town to visit and tour, like the healing church or the library featuring classic and rare publications about the unknown. But the most fun and exciting part of this great New York vacation getaway is going to see a psychic, or one of the various forms of a psychic. Some read Tarot cards, some read palms, there are some numerologists and also many mediums that supposedly let the spirit speak through them. Either way, these people, mostly women but not only, are amazing people. They bring up names from your past or your family history that there is no possible way they would ever be able to have known it ahead of time. It is truly an amazing experience and glimpse into the world of psychics. And what’s best if you bring a blank tape, or $5 or so to buy one from them, most specialists will offer to tape the session as a standard.

I just got done reading a book called "The secret life of Sparrow Delaney" i know it sounds a little cheesey and childish but it was truely magnificent and based on a charecter (Sparrow) who is a medium living in Lily Dale with her six sisters her mother and her grandmother. Anyways it is a great book if anyone wanted to read something about Lily Dale New York. Oh and by the way the author is Suzanne Harper.

I have been to Lily Dale, some years ago and am looking forward to returning. The Medium that I had dealt with was spot on with things about my life that she could not possibly have known unless there was a spirit speaking to her. Without going into specifics, she confirmed that my Father was talking to me through her. It was THE most amazing reading or psychic encounter of my life. I hope this same woman is there upon my return trip.

This person writing this did not even know how to spell Chautauqua! So much for validity of the knowledge of his topic.

Hi -- the article is interesting but not entirely accurate. You don't have to be a Spiritualist to live in Lily Dale; rather, you have to belong to a Spiritualist church and be a member of the Assembly to own a house on the grounds of Lily Dale. Not all residents consider themselves "psychics". The correct term, by the way, is a Medium, or one who is able to receive messages from those who have passed over to those still on Earth. To my knowledge, the Assembly does not permit people on the grounds to read palms or Tarot Cards and when you go to a service at Inspiration Stump, you sit on benches arranged in rows and aisles similar to what you would find in any church. People do not sit in lawn chairs in "wedding style". One of the most uplifting activities at Lily Dale is to attend a Healing Service at the Healing Temple, where "healers" or those who have taken classes and passed certification to be healers work with individuals' energy in order to effect a spiritual, emot
