The Magic of Believing: Suggestion is Power

Claude Bristol's Book Reveals How to Get Anything You Want

"Thought attracts that which it is directed" explains Claude Bristol in The Magic of Believing. Bristol goes on to give valuable life-changing advice for anyone who desires more in their life.

Bristol's masterpiece, written in 1948, opens with his description of how he was able to tap into the power of belief. His path, at first rambled through a succession of failures and mediocrity. Filled with countless personal anecdotes and real life stories, he shares his own journey of
how he was able to transform his own life.

The Magic of Believing is full of examples in all fields where supreme concentration and self-belief not only overcame obstacles but created perfection. He describes both professional and amateur athletes whose belief in self produced incredible accomplishments. He uses illustrations of all manner of ordinary people who were able to accomplish the extraordinary.

Bristol claimed he did not invent the concepts contained in his book. Rather he was able to discover these truths through years as working a journalist. He also spent years studing thousands of books on the "science of thought". He called his techniques "mind stuff". He was able to witness the power of belief in numerous situations, both in his own life and others. He was able to discover the incredible powers of the mind.

The underlying source of all achievement, according to Bristol, is belief. Belief alone, however, is not the answer. You must also enlist the power of the subconscious. This can be done through the repetition of words or phrases which will allow the subconscious to set events into motion for you.

Bristol gives a number of practical techniques which can be used immediately, to produce results. One method is called the "mirror technique". He instructs you to stand in front of a mirror, and tell yourself what you want to accomplish for 5 to 10 minutes. This should be done at least twice a day. He reveals how this simple exercise will cause your desires to seep into your subconscious and soon become a reality.

Thanks for your geat comments. Bristol contends the power of positive thought is taught in the bible. He states belief in God is the source of all power. While not totally a religious book, The Magic of Believing, as well as TNT, The Power With-in You, comes from God. You just need to learn how to channel this energy in your own life. Your article definitely got my interest up in wanting to read more. My first thought was the power of belief with God and how he might address that as well.

I totally agree with that "mirror technique". At first it sounds kind of silly, standing in front of a mirror and talking to yourself for 5 to 10 minutes. But there's sound advice here. We all can have our own "mirrors" ... whether it's on a list, a calendar, or in an actual mirror. If we stay focused, we can accomplish much in a single day before it slips away....

1948? 2006 "The Secret" becomes the latest hot fad. Through the years I have come to understand that Jesus told us this in the Bible. So, yes, the idea is not new, but an authors job is to "make old things new, and new things old". Thanks for sharing. I needed to remember this message and it sounds like the kind of book I would enjoy reading.
