Hollywood is a a great and necessary asset in this world but that does not excuse the fact that it is a negative impact on the world. I believe Hollywood is too overrated and the realistic aspects is not shared with the consumers. It is ridiculous that women like Paris Hilton are praised for going to jail when in actuality it is a negative thing and a disgrace. I admire Paris Hilton as a realist but I do not believe that the media directly explains to young children the impact that the lives of this celebrities has on our future generations.

Another prime example is the fact that Beyonce Knowles because of her fame and social status is seen as the ultimate heroine in African American culture, where educated and involved women politically and influentially like Condelezza Rice are often disregarded among youths. I absolutely adore Ms. Beyonce but I believe they are so many important women in the world with more beauty and influence on the world that should receive this credits that the media and Hollywood give to their entertainers. When I look at a five year old girl in this country, their ultimate goal is to become a singer or a dancer when they are so many issues in the world that are actually more important than being entertained.

If this same little girl would look up to Hilary Clinton for example; she might actually be inspired to become the next president and help make decisions that will change the lives of millions of people. Not only is Hollywood a problem for our youth, it is also a problem for young adults and their esteem. Hollywood seems to praise thinner women and display them as the epitome of beauty. I believe every woman is built differently than the rest; therefore they should not be a set image of beauty as Hollywood makes it. Hollywood is the biggest cultural influence in the world, but I believe they have not chosen the right role models for our youth or the right images for our young adults. I believe it is time that we redirect our priorities and change the world for good.
