Being a band based out of Knoxville, TN, Memphis is a good 12-hr. drive. We decided early on we had to do two paying gigs to make it worth our while gas wise to travel that far. Memphis is one of our favorite cities to play. We get a great response there, normally. The first night at the Buccaneer went beautifully with people dancing on the tables; throwing beer on us and each other (giving the girls that wet T-shirt look), people just generally had a great time. That's what we strive for.
So the second night we're even more amped since we were playing Wrecked-fist, an event sponsored by Memphis' own Wrecked 'em Records.
Wrecked 'Em, the brainchild of good friends of our Mike Condone also known as Sugar Daddy! Also, it was near Christmas so every one was in that Holiday, "I got an excused to get trashed," Spirit.
First, please allow who the heck we are and me to provide just a bit of history on The Dirty Works.
At the time I'm speaking of We had really been doing a lot of what I call Home Touring. I call it this because every week we would be back at home for a few days, however we were doing 20+ out of town shows a month for about a year and a half straight. Breaking even, no one getting rich or quitting their day jobs. But this has never been about money with us. It's never been about money with me even though I've counted my blessings for supporting myself solitarily through music the few times I have.
