For anyone that is a true fan of Halloween, spook fanatics know that it is surrounded by many creepy elements that go way deeper than a simple dollar store mask designed to freak people out. The scare factor can include a night filled with scary movies watched in a room with a Halloween theme to a smorgasbord of edible brains and eyeballs to witch fingers served with a dark cold drink with bug laden ice cubes floating in the murky concoction.

Lighting is a key factor for setting the mood to the optimum eerie realm of illusions that Halloween is famous for. Black lights are perfect for the occasion since they turn normal objects into glow in the dark figures, sending the imagination traveling straight into the extremely freaked out mode. Theatrical lighting such as black lights can be purchased at party stores or at Spencer's in the mall for around $15.00. To purchase black lights and other Halloween accessories go to http://www.spirithalloween.com/decorations/.

Slimy strings are a must for any room that has been set with a Halloween theme, and they are easy to make. Black lighting is perfect for this particular scare factor. Just cut some string into four foot lengths and tape them to the ceiling. Just before your guests arrive hold a bowl of water up to the string and get it wet. People will walk straight into the wet, slimy string and it will brush across their faces for the ultimate Halloween trick designed to freak people out.

A cauldron filled with dry ice and a dark drink will also set the tone for your guests. Just add some plastic spiders to the drink and set back to watch the flurry of horror as people pull spiders out of their mouths. The added thrill of black lighting will heighten the scare factor, so make sure that your guests are not faint of heart. Don't have a clue as to where to purchase dry ice? The dry ice directory will give you the closest locations in your area to purchase it. Just click on http://www.dryicedirectory.com/usa.htm and enter your area code.

Will, the typical sauce for these cookies is chunky sweet spiced apple butter with red food paste added for color.

Thanks for all of the comments. We definitely get into Halloween in my house. Of course both hubby & I were born very close to October 31st, so that might have something to do with getting into it.
