Apartment Complex Review: Hunter's West Apartments in Westland, Michigan

Hunter's West Apartments in located at 6501 Yale Street in Westland Michigan right in the heart of the city. It is less than two miles from the Westland mall and from many shops and restaurants. It is location is decent except during the holiday season when the traffic around the mall is horrible, but if that was the only issue I could have dealt with it, but it wasn't.

Hunter's West is a two building complex with nine floors in each building. We lived on the ninth floor or as they called it, the penthouse. I have to laugh now because they used the term penthouse for that nasty, dirty floor. When you walk into the building on the main floor and look around you see an older but very clean building. Do not get used to it because once you step on the elevator all that disappears.

The elevator makes such horrible noises that you are not even sure your going to make it to the top floor. Then when the doors open and you can breathe a sign of relief that you did in fact make it you open your eyes to see the nasty, dirty, filthy surroundings. The wallpaper is peeling away from the wall, the carpet is stained with who knows what and there is garbage on the floor over flowing from the trashcan that has not been emptied in weeks.

I know your wondering how I didn't notice this before I moved in and signed a lease. Simply put we needed a place to live and fast so I didn't ask all the questions I should have. Not to mention the model apartment they show you is located on the first floor where everything is nice, tidy and clean.

Another bad thing about this apartment complex is the fact that maintenance is very slow in getting around to fixing things and when they do finally show up at your door to fix something they never have the parts in stock to repair it. So if something stops working or gets broken be prepared to wait for weeks to get it fixed.
