I have discussed many political things over the past several years, many of them at AC. One that is not even on my "burners" but that nevertheless flabbergasts me is the stance that NRA takes re weapons. It is true that manufacturers make things for which there is a demand. Also, weapon manufacturers have a special operation/marketing concern to make sure that those items destined for military use do not wind up being sold to civilians.

Over 30 yrs ago, Israelis had made for them, Uzzi weapons, small machine guns to use against terrorist Arabs that infiltrated their lands. Naturally, the manufacture sought further markets for their production line and easily found same.

This article is aimed to two markets; NRA and the weapon's makers. Each nation should create a law that says 'if you want to submit RFPs [request for proposals or other bids to make weapons], you must realize that we will prohibit sales made to anyone after our orders stop. This is for national security. This is the same restriction that each nation places on those manufacturers of bombs, and certain chemicals and security devices. I needed to give examples to demonstrate that limiting production output is not at all unusual as a criteria for a government to offer contracts to weapon's makers.

As of now, for reasons the common citizen and most lawmakers find unfathomable, there are on the streets, not only Uzzis, but machine guns, hand grenades, C4 explosives, assault rifles, and other gases and military weapons.

When SOME NRA officers and SOME legislators feel a restriction on any weapons is a weakening of our "right to bear arms", these individuals ignore the idea of the "common man" principle in law. What would the common man expect? Want? Understand? Would a restriction on the sales of machine guns, hand grenades and other military intended weapons cause the home owner seeking protection guaranteed in the Constitution's Bill of Rights, a worry? No. The home owner buys those weapons DESIGNED for home protection; hand guns. Period.

Takeaways
  • hunters-- using more than slide, lever or bolt action rifles are wasting their time.
  • illegal weapons harm innocents more than stop bad people.
  • restricting the sales and use of ILLOGICAL weapons helps everyone.
Did You Know?
IF a weapons manufacturer were treated like a bomb maker, the NAR would be sued and dismantled.
