Author Tom Carhart to Speak on Custer at West Point and Gettysburg in Monroe, Michigan
Renowned author and historian Tom Carhart will appear at the Monroe County Historical Museum on Saturday, October 6, according to the Custer Week schedule of events at www.georgecuster.com. He will present "Custer at West Point and Gettysburg" at twelve o'clock noon at the museum which

About Tom Carhart
Tom Carhart has authored five books. A graduate of West Point, he earned a law degree from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in American and military history from Princeton University. He now serves as adjunct professor of history at University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. He resides in Massachusetts.

Celebrating Custer Week
Carhart will be joining residents of Monroe, Michigan as they honor General George Custer and celebrate Michigan's part in the American Civil War with the Ninth Annual Custer Week. Monroe was the general's adopted hometown.
Custer Week is presented by the Custer Celebration Committee. The week-long educational program is intended to educate and inform Monroe and Michigan residents about their most famous resident, General George Armstrong Custer.
The Ninth Annual Custer Week will begin on September 29 and will end on October 7.

The presentation of "Custer at West Point and Gettysburg" will educate the audience about General George Custer's time at West Point and about his role in the battle at Gettysburg during the Civil War.
Honoring Custer for Civil War Service
