Lost Triumph: Lee's Real Plan at Gettysburg and Why It Failed

Tom Carhart's latest book, "Lost Triumph: Lee's Real Plan at Gettysburg and Why It Failed" takes a look at the third day of the battle at Gettysburg, offering a new theory about what went wrong with General Robert E. Lee's battle plan.

"Lost Triumph: Lee's Real Plan at Gettysburg and Why It Failed" is available in bookstores now.

Celebrating Custer Week

Carhart will be joining residents of Monroe, Michigan as they honor General George Custer and celebrate Michigan's part in the American Civil War with the Ninth Annual Custer Week. Monroe was the general's adopted hometown.

Custer Week is presented by the Custer Celebration Committee. The week-long educational program is intended to educate and inform Monroe and Michigan residents about their most famous resident, General George Armstrong Custer.

The Ninth Annual Custer Week will begin on September 29 and will end on October 7.

Custer at West Point and Gettysburg

The presentation of "Custer at West Point and Gettysburg" will educate the audience about General George Custer's time at West Point and about his role in the battle at Gettysburg during the Civil War.

Honoring Custer for Civil War Service

Custer's Civil War service is sometimes overshadowed by his death at the Battle of Little Big Horn in Montana. This, says one Monroe resident who asked to remain anonymous, is a shame.
