Kentucky's Attorney General Candidate Stan Lee's Stance on the Issues

Controversial Republican State Representative Stan Lee is running against Democrat Jack Conway for Kentucky's Attorney General in November. Mr. Lee has posted the issues he feels are important to Kentucky and his stance on them on his website. Below are these issues and my thoughts on his position. All highlighted information is pulled from Mr. Lee's campaign website.

1. Our children are the future of Kentucky and we need to make sure that we as a society and government live up to our core duty - protecting these precious little ones. With today's technology, the threat of sexual predators is growing and children are more vulnerable to these pedophiles, who are preying on our children through the internet. As Attorney General I will fight this problem head on and create a Child Predator Unit that will go after these online predators.

Actually, statistics show that most sexual offenders are relatives and that the threat of an online predator is relatively small. While it is important to protect children, creating a "Child Predator Unit" smacks more of riding the Dateline bandwagon than an intelligent pooling of resources to fight a problem. The money would be much better spent on teaching children and adults about how to keep themselves safe and what to do if they're propositioned online.

2. The family is the central unit of all that is great. All across our Commonwealth, families have provided the key building blocks for strong communities. As a leader in the State House of Representatives, I have always fought to protect traditional family values, such as the legal posting of the Ten Commandments, the passage of the Marriage Amendment to keep marriage between a man and a woman, and protecting the rights of the unborn. As Attorney General, I will do no less and I have been endorsed by Kentucky Right to Life.
