Halloween is right around the corner and I know kids love the holidays. Being a homeschool momma, I also know that kids like to have holiday themed worksheets. There are many great worksheets on the internet, but what happens when you can't find the one that you are looking for? You can make your own. In this guide I will show you how to make Language Arts worksheets with a Halloween theme using Microsoft Word.

I usually find free graphics and clipart online to use for my worksheets. I keep a folder with different graphics in it to use for my worksheets and stuff. So if you do not already have your clipart or graphics that you are going to use, you will need to find them before we start.

First, we will type a place for the child to write their name and date. So at the top of your document, type a place where they can write their name, and a place where they can write the date. Then press enter on your keyboard a couple of time. You may want to type your instructions for this worksheet before you move on.

Next, we will insert a table to work in. The table will help us keep things neat and in order. You can hide the table before you print the worksheet. Go to the top of your Microsoft Word window and click Table / Insert / Table. Create one column and however many rows you are going to need. The rows will depend on how many questions you are going to have on the worksheet. Click OK to insert the table.

Now you can start typing your sentences for Language Arts. My example is "Circle the Noun(s) in each sentence". Then I typed sentences in each cell. So go ahead and type your worksheet up and then you can go back and add the graphic.

I don't know why, but I always place the graphic at the top right of the worksheet. You can place it anywhere that you want. But this is how I do mine. This is where it gets a little tricky.

Click inside of the first cell. Right click and click Split Cell from the drop down menu. When the box comes up, enter two columns and one row. Then click OK. Do it again in the second cell. Then highlight the two cells that you added and right click. Click Merge Cells from the drop down menu. Now you should have you a nice little box to add your Halloween graphic.
