Mucinex Dm Stops Nagging Coughs and Decongests

I have had allergies my entire life. First, it was just the normal, seasonal hay fever when I lived with my parents in the city. Once I got married, we moved to a small village out in the country. Then my allergies would trigger in spring, summer and fall. Once we moved to the farm 26
years ago, my allergies were active all seasons except winter until I started milking cows, bailing hay, doing chores and working with all the animals. Then the allergies were year-round.

Several years back I saw a ear, nose and throat specialist as my allergies got worse. He said I had Chronic Sinusinus. He had me flush out my nasal passages daily with a warm saline solution, and then use prescription nasal spray, eye drops and Zyrtek D. This helped me be able to control my allergy symptoms, until a few years ago. With smoking and my allergies I started getting a sinus infection once a month in the summer time. I would have constant coughing and choking spells where my eyes would water with tears running down my face, my nose would run, and at times I would throw up flem before it would stop. During these coughing episodes at times I could hardly breath. I would be gasping for air, while the tears ran, the nose ran and I would be totally sweated wet. My hair and my skin and clothes would be sometimes soaking wet, once the coughing spell was over.

I would go into see the doctor and they would prescribe an antibiotic, and cough syrup. I would also pick up sugar free cough drops, and throat spray. I also would always have a bottle or container of soda with me in case I would feel a coughing spell coming on. Sometimes I would have another cough syrup that I would pick up at the store. It got to the point that the antibiotic, the cough spray, cough drops and extra cough syrup just were not working anymore. I would start having coughing spells that would start at 10 or 11 p.m. and last till 6 or 7 a.m., no matter what I tried.

Hi Lisa, I am not sure, I would check with the pharmacist or your doctor, especially the doctor who did your surgery. Good luck to you. I know how serious lung cancer can be, my sister had it. Hugs MaryLynn

Hi Diane, I agree with you on the size of the box, and bottle. It definitely is a waste. I am glad that Mucinex helped. My husband is taking it right now too, and is amazed at how good it works. Stop back anytime and give us an update on how Mucinex is still working for you and your family. Hugs Mary

Mucinex seemed to make my cough much more productive and also helped my cough. Just one complaint. The bottle could be less than half the size it is and the box is half again as big as need be. Just seems really wasteful. Thanks!

Hi Anne, I take the Mucinex DM and I also do take high blood pressure pills. I have had no problems with it, and the doctor that told me to take it, knew what I was on. If you are unsure check with your pharmacist. Thank you for stopping by, good luck to you. Hugs Mary
