Today's computers require large amounts of storage compared to even a year or two ago. The size of most programs has increased and just keeps getting bigger with each new version that is released. Not only that, but multimedia is more popular than ever and photos, videos and music can take a lot of space to store on your computer. Like many people, you may be finding that the computer that you bought a few years ago simply doesn't have enough storage space to hold everything that you want it to. Rather than buying a whole new computer, a less expensive option is to add a second hard drive to your existing computer to increase your storage space.

Hard drives come in either internal models, which are installed inside your computer, or external models, which plug into the back of your computer and can be easily removed from the computer without having to open it up. There are several factors to consider when deciding whether an internal or external hard drive is the right solution for your computer storage needs.

One of the main advantages of going with an internal hard drive over an external hard drive is that you can usually get more storage space for less money since they are often priced quite a bit cheaper. Depending upon your budget and your storage needs, you may need to choose an internal hard drive to get the storage space that you require while staying within your price range. However, you should weight the benefit of the lower price with the downsides of choosing an internal hard drive.
