Temper Tantrums are a way for a child to express their feelings towards things around them. Children between the ages of two thru twelve will often have the worse cases of temper tantrums all though you should know that even adults can throw temper tantrums. Temper tantrums are a way that a child communicates with others and it can show the anger that they have for the moment. The good news is that you can avoid some of these temper tantrums that you child might be having.

Children learn by the people around them. If you are one of the many adults who have a way of becoming angry easily or become upset often, you child might be following in your foot steps. Have you ever heard someone say that a child has their mother or father's temper? This is probably true in a way because the child probably sees the way that their parents are and they see the way that they express themselves. Lead by being a good role model and step one of avoiding temper tantrums is to not have them yourself.

Express your feelings about the way that your child is behaving. If your child is throwing a fit on the floor tell them that it upsets you when they do it and that you wish that they wouldn't do this. If your child has a problem with throwing things, tell them that they are upsetting you because now you both have to clean up the things that they threw and it isn't nice when they do this. Depending on how old the child is and what the situation is should determine what kind of disciplinary action and speech that you use.

Important information for parenting, especially, "remember who is the adult." Some parents throw a bigger tantrum than the child they are attempting to discipline.
