So, you have decided to start a mural business. One of the most important things need to do right now is gain experience. Experience is important because you need to show your prospective clients that you can and will do a good job on their mural. You will need to be able to show your experience in your mural portfolio. Here are the steps you should take to gain experience in the home Mural business.

Step one: Take classes. You can freshen your skills, learn new techniques, and have your work critiqued at local community center classes, private arts classes, or local college courses, which you can order it. You can also find weekend workshops and artist retreats on line.

Step two: Paint murals in your home. It is often said that the Sign of a good hairdresser is the state of her own hair. Likewise, a good muralist will have beautiful murals in his or her well decorated home.

Step three: Give it away. Doing a few murals for free (or just the cost of paints and brushes )will allow you to gain experience in your mural painting skills as well as providing photographs for your new portfolio , provided you let the outcome of the murals . I have found that day care centers and schools will gladly and appreciatively, allow you to paint a mural on their facilities. If you have children, the process will be made easier by as these places are more open to parents who use their services. As a muralist with two years of experience, I still tend to give away the occasional mural as a gift to friends having children or two churches 40 tax deduction.

Step four: Paint on canvas. Do practice murals on large sheets of world campus or plywood panels. You can purchase rolled canvas on the day for a fair price and get your plywood panels at your local hardware store. You will be able to take some of your smaller practice murals with you when you a job and to use your practice murals as advertising at arts and crafts shows, and other sales opportunities.
