The show starts out with love interests from Season III, Nate and Jenny Lee, searching Boston for Beauty's and Geek's. Also the show's host, Mike Richards, was searching for people in Washington DC. We are introduced to a guy who claims he's a LARP, which is a live action role player. Essentially he plays Dungeons and Dragons, but in real life. Another geek goes through all of the presidents, backwards. A number of girls thought the Sun was either closer to the moon or that they were equal. One beauty says that American won the Civil War and every other war, ever. Another said she was part of a study that involved tanning, except that she went three times and her stomach was a lot lighter than her back. It was then she realized she could close the top of the tanning bed. [Commercial Break] Nate and Jenny Lee are searching in Raleigh, and Mike Richards is in Chicago. We see former Geeks Joe and Carl. Some quotes from some of the potential beauty's: What do you like in a guy? "Money." What is your IQ? "Slightly over not too dumb." How many stripes on the US flag? "Fifty-Two" What is the definition of Morange? "More Oranges...please." "Since I've been in school I haven't been reading." [Commercial Break] Nate and Jenny Lee go to Little Rock and Mike Richards goes to sunny L.A. in search of more beauty's and geeks. Little Rock was pretty slow, but then started to eat up with a guy that was half-way to being a 40-year-old-virgin and a guy who brought his Nintendo console while wearing sandals and socks. Who wrote Beethoven's sixth symphony? "Mozart" We also got a guy who's interested in polymer physics, and another who states that math makes him very excited. Another beauty has an IQ of a 30-point, which is what she calls about average. One beauty says that she likes foreign languages and she tells people that she can speak foreign languages even though she can't. (odd) [Commercial Break] They return in the Sin-City, Las Vegas. They weren't worried about finding beauties, but they were worried about finding geeks. Summer was first with the worst laugh ever and stated that she had an IQ of "seven." -- Seriously, the most annoying laugh ever. The next girl says she'll marry for money if the guy will live long enough, and she goes to male strip clubs to meet guys. The voice over says that they didn't find any geeks in Las Vegas, but said there were plenty on the home tapes. And there were. They keep foreshadowing the big spoiler prior to commercial breaks. I read about what it is already so I guess I won't spoil it until that point in the show. They say we will learn who will be chosen to enter the mansion next. [Commercial Break] The show returns with Mike Richards telling the new cast that they're on the show. One girl proceeds to ask him how he knows and is he for sure. For a complete list of the cast you can go here:http://www.cwtv.com/shows/beauty-and-the-geek-4/cast The show announces that there are 9 beauties and 9 geeks, but remember they have a surprise! I must say from my viewpoint, these are the hottest girls of any season. It introduces the cast one at a time as they arrive at the mansion. Josh, the rubber band club president looks like he could be made up into a normal guy pretty quickly. I always wonder if there are posers that just pretend to be geeks to get on the show. Jasmine the babysitter is probably going to get on my nerves the fastest. She can't remember how many years she went to college. Will, the software engineer, goes first into the room of women. Shay looks at him in a very scrutinizing manner and says she didn't even know guys like him existed. Holly, who plays Betty Boop for a living at Universal Studies, goes first for the girls and had a pretty solid Betty Boop impression if I must say so myself. Dave LARPS some people and Amanda, aspiring playboy centerfold, has $8,000 dollar boobs. Joshua called his mom so she could introduce him to the women via his cell phone. Katie is really good at finding Where's Waldo in books. Apparently Tony is going to be a diamond in the RUST according to Katie. First surprise of the show is that Mike announces after all of the introductions that they will not be picking teams. I admit, I didn't see this one coming. The other spoiler is very obvious by now to anyone who has been watching. [Commercial Break] Mike announces they are all going to participate in the first ever Beauty and the Geek slumber party beneath the stars. Everyone gets in the Jacuzzi, and then it comes time to pick cabana's and three of the girls let Josh stay in their cabana with them. Not a whole lot going on in this section - just a little discussion between the two parties and some great shots of beautiful women in their swimsuits. Oh, and a couple of dudes that need to shave their backs. [Commercial Break] There is some discussion about how they are going to pick the teams. The first challenge consists of the girls undergoing an intelligence analysis test, and the guys undergoing a social analysis test. The guys have to greet a manikin like they would their grandma and then like their girlfriend. They also have to draw their ideal woman on paper. Finally, they have to describe what the see in inkblots. The girls had to identify countries in alphabetical order, do some play on words, and do a very simple math problem. They also had to read, and probably read on average at a 9th grade level, at best. This isn't even that funny to me, rather somewhat sad. Seriously? How do you name states and continents as countries? "The guy who created math obviously had nothing else to do that day," - Shay Mike congratulates them for finishing and announces that Shay and Joshua got the lowest score on the test. BUT, because they got the lowest score, they have the most to gain from the experiment so they get to choose their own teammates, AND everyone elses. Another nice twist! [Commercial Break] Shay acts disappointed that Joshua doesn't really want to be her partner because he realizes they both have the farthest to go. They ask for suggestions and both Beauty's and Geeks provide their input with Shay and Josh to make the decision. They could honor the suggestions or pair people together that will not get along in hopes of winning. Joshua changes his mind and decides to be Shay's partner because he thinks they won't be seen as a threat and people won't put them up for elimination and the two announce they are partners. Other partnerships include:Amanda and Tony (honored the suggestion of Amanda)Jasmine and David (David didn't want Jasmine because of communication issues... his preference was Katie) [Commercial Break] Other partnerships included con't...Erin and Jesse (honoring Erin's suggestion to help him with fashion.)Natalie and JohnJen and William (William didn't want Jen because she's athletic and not very out going.)Rebecca and Will Holly and Josh (Holly and Luke both requested each other.)Katie and Luke Is it just me or is Jen not particularly attractive at all? It looks like Shay and Joshua let some people have their preferences, but did mix it up enough to fluster some of the teammates. Mike then proceeds to announce that the experiment has evolved and that one beauty will be a man, and one geek will be a woman. The 10th and final team is...
[Commercial Break] Sam and Nicole. The show shows a bunch of clips of what is to come during the rest of the season. I must say Ashton Kutcher really does a good job with this show. It's entertaining and they really do learn some significant life lessons.
The whole guy being a beauty and girl being a geek throws a kink in things though because who is the beauty (male) going to get with? Which geek is going to be mad his partner is kissing Sam? Should be interesting.
