When I see Mr. Goldman on TV, on a talk show or the news, I don't see a man who grieves the death of his slain son; I see a man full of hate and anger and greed. Hate can roll one up in a ball and just bounce you all over the place; while the one you hate walks tall and goes on with his or her life. Hate never hurt the person you hate. Hate destroys the hater. I believe that could be one reason why God says love your enemy. Because God knows more than we do how hate destroys a person. I'm not saying that Mr. Goldman should love O. J. Simpson or forgive him. Forgiveness is between Mr. Goldman and his conscious. I'm saying he should stop, for a second, take a deep breath, ask himself; "what is my purpose in this fight? Is it truly for the lost of my son? Or is the purpose mainly to destroy O. J. Simpson? If O. J. Simpson is as arrogant as Mr. Goldman says that he is; is Mr. Goldman adding to that arrogance, by helping O. J. Simpson stay in the news and in the eyes of the public?

The man grieving for his son seems to be lost in hate. I no longer see grief. I see hate. Hate will only cover up the pain one feels. At some point one needs to try hard to get rid of the hate and anger, so they can begin the grieving process. The hardest pain in the world is to lose a child. There is no pain to compare it to. No amount of money in the world, will help the pain go away.

I would like to see Mr. Goldman get together with a ghost writer and write a book about the life of his son. Tell the world what a wonderful young man Ron Goldman was. Write about some of the fun and wonderful times he shared with his wonderful son. Don't just remember that horrible night and forget the good and wonderful person Ron Goldman was.

Really good article... insightful, to say the least.

Good article. I agree with your thoughts about hate consuming the hater. You're right, it doesn't hurt the person we hate; it only hurts us. Mr. Goldman loved his son very deeply, and his death was devastating. I know it is difficult to deal with the fact that O.J. is living his life, while Ron is not. But in the end, hate only brings us bitterness, and robs us of the blessings we have left. I pray that he will find a positive way to remember the son he loved.

Very intuitive article, but I am not sure I could see the man that murdered any of my family go free. However your so right hate only consumes the one who does it and it doesn't hurt OJ at all.

Interesting article. I agree that not letting go of hate only harms the hater. But in Goldman's case, with O.J. walking around free as a bird, it would be SO hard to put that crime out of your mind. I'm just glad I've never had to go through something that horrendous. Sorry for your loses, Mary.

I still can't believe that this all happened 12 years ago!

Hate destroys the hater, that is an excellent statement. Maybe if he could just give OJ a good slap in the face he could get on with his life. Justice or revenge is what I would ask him.

Mary - I am so sorry about your lost but it ads even more insight to your already spot on article. It is obviously not easy to let go of hate, nor even fair sometimes, but the alternative is much worse. May you continue in relative peace and more family blessings Mary!

You are so right but I too can't imagine the hate I'd feel if I were in his place.
