Not too far from the shadows of O'Hare airport rests Shoeless Joe's Bar & Grille. The establishment, located in Rosemont, Ilinois, is named for the famous member of the Chicago White Sox who was banned from baseball after baseball Commissioner Kennesaw Mountain Landis found that "Shoeless" Joe Jackson and seven of his teammates had consipred to throw the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds. Jackson was one of the best players in baseball and because of his ban, never played in a recognized, organized professional league again. His ban from professional baseball also resulted in Jackson being left off the ballot used for enshrinining players in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Jackson has been prominently featured in the movies Eight Men Out and Field of Dreams. Though often seen as a sympathetic figure, many baseball historians, including Bill James, believe that Jackson was involved in the fix and has been rightly banned from the Hall of Fame.

When it comes to the eating establishment, you won't be let down. From the TV viewing side of things, Shoeless Joe's offers four wide screen televisions and 30 other TV monitors. With a satellite feed coming into the building, you won't miss a second of whatever contest you want to see. Within viewing distance of my table were six different sports shows being broadcast from different channels. Hard to beat that. In between pitches, you can play a game of pool or darts or try out Golden Tee Golf.

The menu features something for everyone. Multiple appetizers and salads are available. Sandwich style entrees include a large selection of burgers and chicken dishes, along with a variety of Chicago-style beef sandwiches. Steak, ribs, pasta, fish and pizza items are also on the menu. I had a cajun chicken sandwich with crinkle fries that was well above par.
