Can you relate to this? It is 5:30 in the morning, and you are in the gym getting ready for your morning work out. You have to do at least 45 minutes of cardio, and you are not looking for to it. There it is. Staring you right in the face. The dreaded treadmill. Yesterday, it laughed at you because you could only spend 10 minutes on it. It wasn't that you weren't motivated; it's just the fact that It hurt like hell when you ran on it. Many people look at the treadmill as the only source when it comes to cardio. But there are alternatives to the treadmill that can be just as effective as the almighty treadmill. In this article, I want to go over three alternatives that you can use, if you do not want to run on the treadmill. Let's begin.

Elliptical Machines

One of the best alternatives to running on a treadmill is an Elliptical Machine. The main problem that people have with running on a treadmill is that the treadmill usually hurts their back, their knees and their legs. This is especially true for people that have joint problems. With the elliptical machine, that is not a problem. The elliptical machine is like walking or running on air, so it is less strenuous on your joints. Another benefit of the elliptical machine is that it works your whole body. The treadmill usually works your lower body. The elliptical machine works your legs, chest, shoulder and your arms. 30 minute on an elliptical machine is equal to one hour on a treadmill.

Sprints

Many people want to use the treadmill because they like the running factor of the treadmill. They want the benefits that the treadmill can give without having to use the treadmill. One of the best alternatives you can use for the treadmill are called sprints. Sprints are just quick runs going from one point to another. The benefit of sprints is that you can do enough of them and get the same workout as if you were running on a treadmill. Sprints are great for gaining abs and they can be done anywhere. This is due to the fact that it does not require a machine. All it requires are your wonderful legs.
