Sometimes the simplest items, when clustered together, can make for beautiful Thanksgiving table decorations. Most of those items are seasonal, and can be purchased at very little cost. It is all about how you take those bits and pieces and choose to display them that can make all the difference. The next time you are at your local store, have a look in the produce department at some of the seasonal products. The largest part of the materials for this project can be found in the produce department. Thanksgiving table decorations can look fabulous when you put them together using the following list and instructions.

Materials List

'Garden Dish' Glass Bowl (You can find this in the craft section. It resembles a squished, round fish bowl.)

Several Small Decorative Gourds (You can buy each one separately or you can buy them in a two to five pound bag.)

'Indian' Corn (This is the decorative corn- yes, it is actually real corn- that you can find also in the produce department for the Fall season. The kernels are multi-colored and vivid. You only need a couple of ears. Try and get the mini 'Indian' corn, or get one larger one and snap it in half.)

One Spray of Artificial Mums (You will only use the blooms. Check them before you buy them to make sure that they have either fully opened blooms, or blooms in different stages of opening. Get them in either one Fall color, or in several colors. For example: yellow, orange, burgundy, or brown.)

Filler (For the bowl. You can use five or six bags of colored stones. As long as they complement the rest of the items, and are in a stand-out shade; such as dark red, dark yellow, etc.)

Candle (This is optional, but if you had a six inch pillar candle in say a honey, or dark gold color to position in the center; it would really stand out beautifully.)

Thanksgiving Table Decorations: Putting Your Centerpiece Together

The best thing about making your own Thanksgiving table decorations is that it is all up to you. How your Thanksgiving centerpiece turns out will be because of how you put it together. It is very personal, and can give you a great deal of joy when you hear the complements you will receive.

A nice alternative to the ordinary bowl of gourds.
