The Puget Sound
Galaxy of Sea Life
I listened and felt the crashing of the waves, the sound of the surf
the feel of the sand on my feet
the tide pools, the bay and estuaries
the intertidal zone
hermit crabs, sand dollars, sea anemones, chitons,
so much marine life
jars of crustaceans, my nets full of jelly-fish, a piece of driftwood
I knew this strata well, it was once my playground
a never-ending perpetually fascinating galaxy
of flora and fauna.
