A Few Major Things You Should Know About College Life

I have been going to school here for almost a year and some odd months now. I have learned quite a lot, not just school work in general, but about people and how life is here. I thought that I would have college all sorted out when I got here, but the fact of the matter is that it's totally different than what anyone ever thinks it is and you never know what you're actually in for. I have learned lots of key things people should be told before they actually get here, but no one ever seems to let it slip. I think some people actually enjoy the gratification from watching the poor freshman's faces drop into a stupor as they try to grasp onto it.
So I have taken it upon myself to release these secrets and let it be known.
1. Buy Shower Shoes~ It's so sad, but oh so true. If you don't want warts on the bottom of your feet, buy flip flops. I had some people last year who insisted that this was just a myth and then low and behold, a week later they had some nasty misgivings on the bottom of their feet.
2. Stock up on Pepto Bismal and Tums~ No matter how good you think the food looks when you visit, you are sorely mistaken. Nothing goes better with college food then a side of diarrhea.
3. Get an On-Campus job ASAP~ Even though for the first few weeks you'll be busy as ever, it will eventually tone down and you'll be bored (and broke). Having an on-campus job not only lets you meet new people, puts some money(however very small) into your pocket and you don't have to work the breaks. Usually the jobs are scooped up as soon as you arrive on campus, so doing some handy emailing might just save you.
4. If You're Going to Party, Do it Right~ If you're going to drink then fine, have a good time. But don't go bumbling around with so much alcohol in you that you don't even know your name. Stupid things can happen to girls in particular if they are not careful. The girls here do this all the time, and I can't tell you how stupid they are. One girl in particular goes around telling everyone how many times she has blacked out and relishes in the fact she's had alcohol poisoning two times. Is this something to be proud of? I think not.
