Energy drinks can be bought everywhere. They are a convenient drink that will give you a jolt of energy when you need it. Energy drinks contain large doses of caffeine and sugar in them. And can contain other stimulants such as ephedrine, guarana, and ginseng to mention a few. Energy drinks contain as much caffeine as in a cup of coffee. They contain more caffeine in them then the amount of caffeine found in soft drinks. Energy drinks are available to everyone and are especially very popular with young adults. Energy drinks are considered to be very powerful drinks because of the high doses of caffeine found in them. They do give you a jolt of energy as a pick me up when you drink them.

Energy drinks can have certain effects on our body like raising our blood pressure, making our heart rate rise, and energy drinks can prevent us from getting the sleep that we need. Energy drinks have also been known to dehydrate our bodies if we drink them while we exercise. Energy drinks are not bad for us to drink but then again they are not good for us to drink either. These drinks contain a very high amount of caffeine in them. Most energy drinks also have a lot of sugar in them. Which is not good for our bodies either. Energy drinks do not offer any good nutrients that our bodies need.

I was thinking of doing an article on energy drinks and their health effects. Thanks for writing the piece, but I didn't really learn anything new. I would have liked to see more information beyond what seems to me like common sense (they contain lots of caffeine and sugar, can raise your heart rate, might harm your health..). Maybe some more specific information? I think I will work on a piece. Regards, Jesse

Too much caffeine can make you jittery and can cause your heart rate and blood pressure to go up. Caffeine is also a diuretic so energy drinks can send you on many trips to the facilities. In addition, caffeine is an addictive drug and some people experience severe withdrawal symptoms when they go off it. You should also NEVER mix energy drinks with alcohol. Red Bull with vodka is therefore a definite no-no! Pregnant women may want to be cautious because excessive caffeine could possibly be harmful to unborn children.
