In this tutorial I will show you how to create dreamy photos in Fireworks. There are a few different ways to achieve the dream look in Fireworks. This is an effect that is used on a lot of photos that you see on the web. I will also show you how to apply a dream effect with a tint of color to it. Open your Fireworks program and we will get started.

The first thing that you will need to do is open the photo that you want to use. If you don't know how to open a photo do the following. Go to the top of your Fireworks window and click File > Open. Locate the photo that you want to open. Click on the photo and then click the Open button. Your photo will open in Fireworks. Set your canvas color to white or some of these effects will not work.

The first way to apply the dream look to your photo is to drop the transparency on your photo. Click on your photo to select it. Then look in the bottom of your window for the transparency box. It will be right above the effects button. Click on the arrow and pull the bar down to 80. You may need to adjust it a little because your photo may be darker or lighter than the one I'm using. Drop the Blend Mode box down right beside it and select Normal. That is the first way to apply the dream look to your photo.

The second way to apply the dream look to your photo is to adjust the Brightness and Contrast. If you are using the same photo, click Edit > Undo to undo the effect that you just applied. Click on the photo to select it. Then click the effects button at the bottom of your window. Click Effects > Adjust Color > Brightness Contrast. The Brightness Contrast box will open. Move the brightness up a little and move the contrast down a little. Playing around with these two effects will apply a dream look to your photo. I can't really tell you what to set the bars on because every photo is different in color. So that means the settings will be different.
