I know are probably thinking how can you even compare these two films? Truthfully I only went to see this movie because Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro and Sienna Miller were amongst the star studded cast. I didn't see one preview or marketing poster for this movie. If I didn't know better I would say the producers where homophobic because the fact that they had Robert De Niro playing a cross-dressing pirate was so funny coke and nachos came out my nose!

Tristan (Charlie Cox) is the son of both worlds: One filled with magic and One filled with cruelty. Living in Europe, Tristan is in love with the stuck-up Victoria (Sienna Miller). Miller played the hell out of this role. I haven't hated a person on-screen that much since Joan Allen in the Notebook. He vows to win her hand in marriage if he can find and bring back to her a fallen star by her birthday.

Later, he reveals his plans to his father (Nathaniel Parker) to win the heart of this girl and learns about his true heritage beyond the wall.

Sidebar, the old dude who watched the wall to keep its inhabitants of each side from co-mingling was the second funniest dude in the whole movie and he doesn't even get a by-line of their website? Ok, producers you are 0 for 2 homophobic and ageists! Just kidding.

Ok, back to the story, so after he learns his mother is alive and in the magical land behind the wall. His mother gives left him a magical candle in his crib that flies him directly to the star that isn't a lump of coal but Yvaine (Claire Danes). After he meets Yvaine and tells her his plight he uses his magical rope that is keep his mother prisoner in the magical world to keep Yvaine tied to him until he can get back to Victoria who is a four day walk away.

Did You Know?
Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro) captures Tristan and Yvaine in the sky as they escape Lamia's clutches and gives Tristan a needed make over while still being all "Jack Sparrow-ish." Man it was funny!
