Gossip Girl premiered 9/19 on the CW network. While I wasn't originally interested in watching it, I thought it wouldn't hurt to see if it were any good. Gossip girl is based on the book series by Cecily von Ziegesar.

It started with the main character, Serena van der Woodsen, gazing out the window while on a train. Serena has come back to Manhattan for so far unknown reasons. Gossip Girl (no one knows her identity) narrates the show as events transpire. Evidently Gossip Girl has a web site and is well known to all of the classmen at their prep school. If you want to know the dirt, Gossip Girl is where you get it from.

When Blair Waldorf hears that her BFF (best friend forever) is back in town, she tries to hurry and consummate her relationship with her boyfriend Nate because the word is that Nate always had a thing for Serena. Blair's plans are ruined when her Mom knocks on her door and tells her that Serena is there. When Nate hears that, he hightails it out of there.

Serena goes to visit her brother who is being kept at a hospital because he tried to commit suicide. She has conflict with her mother who has told everyone that her brother is visiting an aunt somewhere. Her mother didn't want it to get out what really happened. When Serena gets home (which is really the Palace hotel as her Mother always is renovating their house), she finds Nate waiting for her. A few looks of teen angst transpire between them and Serena tells Nate that she did not come back for him, Blair is her best friend and loves him and that is the way things are supposed to be.

Very detailed, fascinating review. I like all the character trait you mentioned. Thanks also for commenting on my review of a great Thanksgiving product, Sticky Toffee Pudding (yum!)

Good review. I actually thought about watching this show's first episode because of all the press. I forgot...and it sounds like a good thing!

Great review, think I'll give the show a pass. Just not my thing!

I have to admit, the show didn't interest me enough to make note of their names. LD

Good grief, that sounds insane! Whatever happened to Dawson's Creek for the teenage crowd? Angsty stuff it was, but this sounds like smut in kids' clothing. Great review and play-by-play, so a 5! I'd have liked it more if you'd listed the actors' names, though. :)
