Immerse yourself in Greek culture. The Atlanta Greek Festival welcomes the community to enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of Greek culture. Thursday through Sunday, October 4-7, 2007, the Annunciation Cathedral and the Atlanta Greek Community welcome you to The Atlanta Greek Festival. The Festival is held at the beautiful Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2500 Clairmont Road.

The festival is open Thursday through Saturday, 11 am until 11 pm. Sunday hours are 12-7pm. Tickets are only $3 for adults and $1 for children. On Thursday, October 4, senior citizens are admitted free.

The Atlanta Greek Festival is one of the best festivals and cultural activities Atlanta offers each year. Admission prices are amazingly low for an exhilarating and beautiful experience. Take extra cash. Once you are surrounded and warmed by the aroma of garlic, oregano, and cinnamon, you will not be able to resist a sample.

The food at the Atlanta Greek Festival is a wonder to the senses. Mouth-watering chicken lathorigano is a broiled chicken basted in olive oil, lemon, and oregano served with rice pilaf. Pastitsio is Greece's answer to a casserole. Pastitisio is a satisfying dish of noodles, ground sirloin, and cheese topped with lusciously creamy white béchamel sauce. Of course, there is plenty of Greek salad, gyros, Greek pizza, Greek potatoes, and fresh rolls. If you don't want a full meal marinated souvlaki, marinated pork tenderloin is an excellent choice.

No dieting during The Atlanta Greek Festival. Satisfy your sweet tooth with tasty Greek pastries. The favorite is baklava, but expand your cultural horizons and indulge in a variety. Pastries are sold individually, or by the package.

If you don't have time to visit The Atlanta Greek Festival, but want to sample a taste of Greece, stop by the ingenious Greek Festival drive-thru. If you decide to grab lunch, get enough for everyone at the office.

Sounds like fun (apart from the Greek Orthodox involvement). I always think it's funny when I hear the word "gyro". I've only ever heard Americans use this term when referring to food. It means a "turn" or to go round and round in Greek. I wonder who it was who decided to make a descriptive name for this food? Hmmm. Sophie
