This crab is one of the most colorful that you can purchase for a saltwater tank. You will need to provide your crab with plenty of empty snail shells that your crab can move into when it outgrows its current shell. You will also want to provide the crab with different types of food such as brine shrimp, micro foods and hermit crab food that is designed for saltwater hermit crabs. These crabs will take care of the algae in your tank, which includes green hair algae if you have a problem with green hair growing on your live rock.
The Zebra Hermit Crab is very easy to care for and it's also very peaceful. It will not attack your fish or snails. This hermit crab does not get very large. It will not even reach two inches in length. You can place the hermit crab in any size tank that you have. You will want to purchase one hermit crab per gallon of water and provide the hermit crab with plenty of algae and food to eat. You can purchase a large bag of seaweed and place it inside of a veggie clip on the bottom of your fish tank. Make sure that the hermit crab can reach the seaweed because they cannot climb up glass and they cannot swim.
