Dallas County

St. James Episcopal Church, located at 9845 McCree Road in Dallas, Texas, holds a very popular pumpkin patch every year. The church is very close to White Rock Lake, which is a major hub of recreation in Dallas. This fundraising event is put on by both adult and youth group volunteers. The funds gathered help to send kids to camp. Phone: (214) 348-1345. Email: carolhernandez@stjamesdallas.org.

Arapaho United Methodist Church, located at 1400 West Arapaho Road in Richardson, Texas gets in a load of pumpkins from the Navajo Indian Farm in New Mexico every year at the end of September. Indian corn and gourds are also sold. The co-op is extremely important to the Navajo economy, and helps them to remain self-sufficient. The event also benefits the AUMC. The pumpkin patch is open daily from the end of September to the end of October, between 10 am and 8 pm. Phone: (972) 231-1005. Email: office@arapaho-umc.com.

The Dallas Arboretum's Autumn at the Arboretum: The Great Pumpkin Festival is held from September 22 - October 31, 9 am to 5 pm. Dates vary slightly each year. Activities include the Tom Thumb Pumpkin Patch, the Pumpkin House, the Hay Bale Maze, Hay Rides ($3 per person per ride) and Piano Music on the Pergola. On the weekends, there's a Costume Parade, Pumpkin Decorating Demonstrations, Face Painting, Crafts and Performances on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage.

Be sure to bring the kids if you visit the Dallas Arboretum's Autumn at the Arboretum toward the end of October, as there are always lots of fun activities for kids, such as trick or treating and a petting zoo. The Dallas Arboretum is located at 8525 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for children 3 - 12, and free for children under 2. Parking is $5. Members of the Dallas Arboretum get in for free. Phone: (214) 515-6500. Email: events@dallasarboretum.org.
