You can now find out if your cholesterol level is healthy within just five minutes at Publix Pharmacies in Florida. At select locations, Publix Pharmacies are offering two types of cholesterol screening services. For $25, you will receive a non-fasting screening of your total cholesterol and your HDL (good cholesterol). For $30, you will receive a fasting screening of your total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, and glucose levels. For $25 to $30, you will know if your cholesterol level is healthy, without spending hundreds on doctors' visits and laboratories. (Of course, you should continue to see your regular doctor for your annual physical and complete blood tests).
High cholesterol can sneak up on you, and it puts you at an increased risk for a heart attack and other heart diseases. It is wise to get your cholesterol screened frequently. Lifestyle changes, including a special diet and exercise, can help decrease your bad cholesterol levels and increase your good cholesterol levesl. You can further reduce your heart risks by reducing risk factors: you can stop smoking, work to maintain your ideal body weight and control your blood pressure. Diet includes making good food choices and using low-fat, low-cholesterol cooking techniques. If diet and exercise are not enough to control your high cholesterol, your doctor can prescribe medication that has proven successful at lowering bad cholesterol levels. Catching high cholesterol levels early can save your life.
