With all the restrictions that were put in place after the terrorist attacks in 2001, many airline passengers have complained about their inability to bring items on the plane to entertain themselves. Virgin America and VH1 have a solution, music videos. No, this doesn't mean they are encouraging you to bring your video Ipods onto the airplanes to watch videos. They have taken the next step for passengers. Virgin America now has music videos available on their Red(TM) inflight entertainment system. Virgin America and VH1 announced this advancement in airline entertainment options in a recent press release.

The great news for passengers is that viewing these videos on Virgin America flights is completely free. The bad news is that not all flights for Virgin America have this capability yet. To start out with the on-demand music library will be available on flights for the following cities: New York, Las Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Las Vegas.

The system offers many of today's hottest musical stars for passenger's listening please. Some of the artists who have videos on the system include Maroon 5, Shakira, Kelly Clarkson, Nelly Furtado, and Mika just to name a few of the videos available. According to the press release, over time the inflight video options will expand to up to 50 music videos.

"VH1 connects adult music lovers to the artists they love as well as to acts new to the scene," said Nigel Cox-Hagan who is Senior Vice President of Creative Group and Consumer Marketing for VH1. "Partnering with Virgin America to offer our most popular videos and artists on-demand on Red(TM) is an excellent way to extend our music mission and provide fans with the opportunity to check out new artists and to hear and see music even at 35,000 feet", continued Cox-Hogan.
