Before you consider doing a detox diet, it is important for you to understand what exactly a detoxification diet is. Well, luckily, the concept of a detox diet is quite easy for most people to understand. The entire point of doing a detox diet is to eliminate the toxins from your body. Here, we will take a much closer look at some of the things that you should be sure to take into consideration before making the decision to go on a detox diet yourself.

What Would You Typically Eat On a Detox Diet?

What you would eat on a detox diet mainly depends on the specific detox diet that you are going on. As with any type of diet, there are many variations of detox diets. Most detox diets require you not to eat any foods that have been processed. You will often be able to drink processed juice, though it is supposed to be 100% whole fruit juice. Detox diets will typically focus on foods that are high in vitamins, nutrients and most importantly, foods which are high in antioxidants to eliminate the body's toxins. Aside from fruit juice, you will typically only eat fruits that are high in antioxidants, such as blueberries, raspberries and pomegranates to name a few. Many detox diets will also allow you to eat vegetables.

What is the Main Benefit of Going On a Detox Diet?

The main benefit of going on a detox diet is that it does give you a jumpstart on weight loss or developing a healthier lifestyle for yourself. Many people feel discouraged when it comes to losing weight once they have not seen any type of results after stuffing their faces with potato chips and pizza. When you choose to go on a detox diet, it is likely that you will lose some weight since you will really be limiting what is going into to your body and eliminating the body's toxins. A lot of people who go on detox diets tend to feel much healthier or better about themselves in a very short period of time. As long as you feel happy and healthy about a detox diet, there is no doubt that it is probably beneficial to you.

Detox fruit is great but can cause fatigue, balance with a good multi, brown rice and 5 brazil nuts a day and you should be good to go! Don't forget firm tofi and fruit smoothies! Yum! Good article

I can't believe that people still fall for this junk. Detox diets are pure bunk. Your digestive tract is not the mechanism that your body uses to remove toxins from your body. Your digestive tract is used to process food and to eliminate those parts of the food that are not digestible. And there have been many studies that show that the claims of the detox diets are pure unadulterated hogwash.

I started a detox diet a few years ago, but it made me feel really ill and with no energy. Would have loved to have stuck to it as I know they're great for you, but my body didn't react to it very well at the time. Good article.
