My husband has high cholesterol, and I have a condition called Costochondritis. We both take aspirin on a daily basis, as directed by our doctors. Bayer Aspirin contains 325 mg. of pure aspirin. Unlike some products, like Excedrin, (that list aspirin as one of their ingredients), Bayer does not contain caffeine.

For my husbands heart health, he takes one low dose aspirin (the equivalent of one baby aspirin) a day. This amount of aspirin is enough to thin his blood and will help in the event of a heart attack or even stroke. A friend of mine is a Dr. and she gave her mom an aspirin at the first sign of a stroke, and her mom ended up being okay. She is convinced that the aspirin really did make the difference. Early intervention is essential. In order for aspirin to have maximum absorption, it should be taken with 8 ounces of water.

I have been seeing a Dr. because of the chest pain and inflammation I've had. I was diagnosed with Costochondritis, and inflammation of the sternum. My Dr. directed me to take aspirin to reduce the inflammation. I used to think that acetametaphin and ibuprofen were the only over-the-counter medicines that would reduce swelling, but she said aspirin actually works better.

Aside from it's great anti-inflammatory benefits, Bayer Aspirin is also a great product for reducing pain and fever. If you have children under the age of 18, you should not give them aspirin in conjunction with a fever or virus, because of the risk of Reye's Syndrome. You should also be aware that aspirin really does thin your blood. My husband has been on aspirin therapy for 8 years, and he will often see blood on his hands and not even realize that he cut himself - and the bleeding can be hard to stop, since thinner blood doesn't clot as quickly.

When I was a teen, aspirin was the choice for headaches, and I still remember how awful and bitter they tasted. Bayer Aspirin has really improved their formulas over the years, and now they are available with a coating to not only taste better, but to prevent stomach upset.

I think it's a good thing it's already on the market, as the FDA might not approve it today!
