What exactly does a stay at home mom do all day? This question has been asked of me many times and it always makes me smile. Simply Put, there are so many things that I do in a day. Some of them are work, some are play and some are just plain a pain!!!

I start my day around 6am with a strong cup of coffee and the morning news. The dog gets let out for her morning constitution and she normally takes off on me for a while. I am not exactly what you would call a morning person, which is the reason I get up so early. I need the time to prepare myself for my children. If I am lucky, they both stay asleep until 7am, which is when I wake my 7 year old son to get ready for school. My daughter, who is 19 months old, is normally up by this time as well. Meanwhile, I have moved on to my second cup of coffee at this point, and am contemplating what to eat. Abbey, my daughter, is parked on the couch, on my lap, with a cup of milk. Brian, my son, is parked on the couch as well, with a bowl of whatever cereal he's decided on for the morning. As soon as I can pry Abbey off my lap, I go to find the dog, which is harder than you think since I live in the country.

Then, it's time to pack a lunch for my son, since he will only eat chicken nuggets at school. In the meantime, Abbey is running around trying to pull my sweats off my body or chasing the dog. Brian is still working on that cereal, because he's switched from morning news to cartoons while I wasn't looking. I can't find the ice pack that was in his lunchbox so I am assuming Abbey got it and who knows where it is now. So, I pack a PB & J sandwich, a juice box, a banana, and a sweet snack. At least those items won't go bad with no ice pack. Brian has finally finished his breakfast and Abbey is ready for hers. A nice banana that she can deal with herself is on the menu. I pack up the backpack with the luchbox and folder and remind Brian that it's time to brush his teeth and hair. He's a great kid and doesn't normally need reminding.
