At times in my life, I have made many mini-quests to find the perfect underwear (still searching) or the perfect PJ's and in this case, the perfect lipstick. I'm not much of a makeup wearer. I have thankfully been blessed with good skin. As my mother always says, "If I looked as good as you do without makeup, then I would go without it." This statement made after trying to persuade her to skip her hour and a half long getting ready to go routine to no avail. Yes, I am a concealer and lipstick kind of girl. With two small girls there is little time for anything else.

Thus, as lipstick is one of the primary staples of my beautification process, I set out to find the perfect one. I'm sure you have noted how regular lipstick is usually thick and heavy. Most of the time it has that oh so not so pleasant taste - yuck! After trying several brands, I decided to try the lip-gloss route. However, as many of you may have discovered, lip-gloss is usually sticky or worse yet slimy. I love the shimmery sheer look of it but it usually comes off the second you take a drink and well, it tastes bad too. There is nothing like the slimy taste of lip-gloss in the morning. So, I moved on to tinted lip balm. I mean, who doesn't love the tingly sensation of the mint or whatever that stuff is that makes your lips feel alive and fresh all at the same time.

Personally, I need as much moisture as you can get with my dry over licked and peeling lips - yes very attractive I know. As good as that lip balm feels, however, it too lasts only momentarily. Talk about dry lips, in an effort to get that staying power, I have also tried several brands of the 16 hour, 12 hour, 8 hour, two step process (which is really a misnomer as you have to reapply the top coat constantly), and even the one step process. What can I say; I was beginning to lose hope that I would ever truly realize my dream. Then one day with coupons in hand I took a trip to my local Walgreens, stepped out on a limb and tried Revlon's Super Lustrous Shiny Sheers. Is that angels I hear singing?

Thanks. I'll have to try this one. I stopped wearing lipstick long ago. I couldn't stand the feel on my lips. I have worn many other "lip" products, but as you say, they don't stay on very long.
