When you think of boxed macaroni and cheese, fried fish, juicy hamburgers, and doughnuts you probably do not ask yourself if these foods are good for detoxification or not. All you can dream about is what your taste buds think once you take a bite into these delectable foods. However, these foods, known as "junk foods" are high in fats and toxins. These are the types of foods that do not promote healthy detoxification of the body and liver. Throughout the rest of the article, you will be able to learn what foods are the most important in cleansing our personal filter, the liver.

A diet rich in organic vegetables, fruits, and organic free range meats are ideal when beginning a liver detoxification program. It's wise to choose organic because it does contain pesticides and herbicides that are found in non-organic fruits and vegetables. These pesticides and herbicides are toxic to our bodies and can possibly lead to sicknesses in the future.

A particular group of vegetables known as cruciferous vegetables are extremely important in liver detoxification. The vegetables that are included in this group are cabbage, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, collard greens, mustard greens, turnips, and broccoli. These vegetables are rich in vitamins, nutrients, and promote cleansing of the liver. They contain phytonutrients that aid the liver in detoxifying drugs and other chemicals in the body.

It's also important to eat starches that are friendly to the liver. These starches include brown rice, wild rice, rice pasta, and brown rice bread. These foods do not contain white flour, which is hazardous to our bodies. In addition, other vegetables that may be eaten include legumes, carrots, dandelion green, and beets.

Proteins are also vital in promoting a healthy liver and body.

Include proteins that are rich in omega-3 fats. Good sources of protein for liver detoxification are salmon, mackerel, herring, halibut, free-range, extra-lean chicken, turkey, free-range, extra-lean beef, and egg on occasion. Fish is low in calories, low in toxins, and full of healthy proteins and nutrients.
