One of the more recent and more popular arguments against homeschooling is that it is cost prohibitive. This not true. As I stated in a recent article, you do not need to have a lot of money for home schooling. I will go as far as to say, if you have internet connection, and access to pencil and paper, you will have everything you need.

Here are some websites that will allow you to homeschool free:

Pink Monkey: This website provides searchable online textbooks and study guides. You can use them to plan a course, or for research purposes. Subjects include Algebra, American Government, Calculus, Geometry, World History, and more.

Algebra.com: This website covers a lot more than just Algebra. You can also use it to learn Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. The site also includes online calculators, and tutors that can submit problem math problems.

Iknowthat.com: This is a fun website for young students up to grade six. The website is designed to help you create "an active learner" in order to develop skills and resourcefulness that will help him or her learn instead of just memorizing facts. Subjects include Arts, Language, Math, Science, and Thinking Games.

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence: This website was developed by the U.S. Department of Education as a teaching and learning resource. Subjects include The Arts, History, Language, Math, Science, and More. The website is arranged by subject.

The Guttenberg Project: You can find access to public domain books all over the internet, but the Guttenberg project already has them all catalogued for you. The database contains over 20,000 free books that you can download or read online.

Ambleside Online: This website is a free and complete "Charlotte Mason" curriculum guide. This website is arranged by grade and details everything you need to use the program, many of which you can find free through websites, the library, and The Guttenberg Project.

Great article and resource. I am also amazed at how many people think it takes big bucks to home school. It hardly takes anything in the way of cash.
