A clean pedestal urn makes the perfect cooler for lounging by the pool or sitting outdoors. Place sodas, wine, or other beverages in the urn then fill with ice. The wonderful thing about using the urn in this manner is that, when not in use as a cooler, you can simply set a pot of silk flowers back in the urn and leave outside.
Pedestal urns come in many different sizes. Use a small one as a centerpiece for a table, especially during a party, to hold fresh fruits or a fruit-and-floral arrangement. Or, fill the urn with styrene then cover in potpourri. Set a pillar candle in the center and you’ve got a unique centerpiece for a formal event. For everyday use in the kitchen, fill with fresh veggies and place near the stove. It’s handy and looks nice.
Several different sized urns can be used to decorate a bathroom and serve a purpose as well. Use a large one that sits on the floor to present a variety of towels and cloths for the tub. Or, use smaller ones, on the counter, to hold curling irons, blow dryers, and other items with handles. Really small pedestal urns can hold brushes, combs and such.
Large urns can be used by the fireplace to hold tools, or just set one beside your favorite chair to hold magazines or knitting supplies. Urns can be used as a toy holder for small children, by the front door for umbrellas, and even in a sewing or utility room to hold yard sticks and other implements.
If you smoke, or have friends and family that smoke, an urn outside, filled with sand, will help eliminate others throwing butts down on the lawn. In the garage, use the urns to hold tools, kids’ stuff and seasonal items.
If you have a pool, the urns make a great way to hold goggles, arm floaties, chemicals and more. A simple plate or platter makes the perfect lid. Don’t store chemicals in them if you have children around, though.
