I have been a member of a few writing groups online and in the real world. Writing groups help you to learn more about writing and they also help you to understand what critique by listening to what other writers have to say and why the said it about another persons writing. Writing groups can be helpful in many ways. Creating a writing group is all about finding people with the same interest as you and being able to create ways for you to meet.

A writing group can be created online through forums or chat rooms, off line at libraries, homes, or other public places. Creating a writing group will allow you to understand the finer points of your own work and also give you an idea of what other writers are doing to make their work a success.

Gathering people:

This isn't as hard as it looks. Gathering people to create an online writing group is probably easier than creating one that you meet with in public. Online writing groups can be formed by finding people in forums or chat rooms that seem to have an interest in writing. Invite them to join your group or invite them to join a chat forum that you have created so that you can communicate back and forth.

Finding people off line can be a little harder. There are ways to do this. If you go to the library, sometimes they will have a list of people who already want to start a writing group. This is a great way for you to locate people who are already interested in your idea. Ask the library clerk if you can leave that person a message and write a message telling them that you are interested in the writing group and would like to help them to start one.

Setting a schedule and gathering more people:

Setting a schedule is very important and you will need to stick to this schedule. Send out emails or newsletters to people who are interested and explain where the group will be meeting and to bring a friend. There may also be bulletin boards at public places that will allow you to put a flyer on there telling about your writing group. If the group becomes too large, ask them if they would like to branch off into to groups or have separate meetings so that it does not become overwhelming.
