In Roxbury New Jersey, Horseshoe Lake park is a lot of park that is tucked off Rt 10 on Eyland Ave. They have music, art shows, sports and walking paths. The mile and a half trail is great for jogging, walking or riding bikes. It winds around a scenic lake with a beach area, a few soccer fields, a baseball diamond, and even a football field. There are volley ball nets and a field where they hold concerts. They have a Rotary Club hall where they have cook outs and a tree lined walk with benches. There is a peninsula that the trail follows so you see geese and even a loon or two. The beach is nice for residents to enjoy during the summer and is much quieter than Lake Hopatcong.

I enjoy bird watching and have seen gold finches, purple finches, and blue birds, King birds, and other wood peckers there. There is something for everyone, some people bring their dog or read by the lake. The runners come to practice on the half dirt, half paved paths. The scenery is beautiful. Especially on a misty day. It is a great place to unwind because it is so quiet. Many people go before work. I enjoy it on my day off. It is nice to see all the joggers and children riding bikes.

Every town should have such a nice park. It must be beautiful with snow on the trees. There is a memorial garden and lots of nice trees to shade you from the heat of a summer day. You could have a picnic there or go for a walk or go to a concert during the summer. On Nov. 24th they have an art show from 9 to3pm. They have children's sports camps like football, volley ball and basketball there. Other attractions in Roxbury are the shopping malls. Ledgewood mall is a sleepy mall. It has a Walmart, a Circuit City and a Bath and Body Works as well as small businesses like jewelers. It even has a music center. And Macy's and Marshall's round out the offering. Next door is the shopping plaza with a Bank of America, a Home Depot, Shopright, Electronics Expo, Walgreens and several smaller shops. There is a Barnes and Nobles for book lovers and several mens wear shops and a Sports Authority in the area. The town is close to the Rockaway Mall and half an hour from Morristown with little traffic.
