Journeyman TV Series Starring Kevin Mckidd

This fall, television is packed full of new series premieres, so choosing witch ones to watch is quite a battle. I was able to see NBC's Journeyman before it actually aired, it actually will air at 10PM EST tonight. I am very glad that I did so I can check out the competition on other channels.

I'm not saying that I did not enjoy Journeyman, but I felt like I was having a bit of deja vu myself. I have seen this formula done before and have liked it before. The problem is that shows that are about going back in time to alter terrible things from the past never seem to make it. Sure a great deal of watchers will get hooked in the beginning but the fan base seems to fade quickly. Take the show "Early Edition" for example it had a large fan base in the beginning and it was even nominated for a couple of Emmy Awards. However the series only lasted four seasons. A few years back Fox tried it with a series called "Tru Calling". I loved the show and tuned in every week to watch it. Sure the acting wasn't the greatest, but I was hooked anyways. The thing is the show only lasted two seasons before it was canned. That being said, I refuse to get hooked to NBC's Journeyman.

Although I felt the plot wasn't original the story line was pretty good and I was actually consumed by it. I don't know if the general audience just can't get into the idea of time travel or what it is about these shows that keeps them from going any longer the four seasons. I can't blame it on science fiction itself because shows like "Heroes" and "Lost" are doing quite well for themselves. Even though shows like "Lost" did not receive one Emmy nomination this year, but that's a whole different story.

Journeyman airs on NBC, Monday nights at 10PM EST. It stars Kevin Mckidd (Dan Vasser) whose recent movies include "Hannibal Rising" and "Kingdom of Heaven". It also stars Brian Howe (Hugh Skillen), Gretchen Egolf (Katie Vasser), Moon Bloodgod (Livia Beale), Reed Diamond (Jack Vasser),and Charles Henry Wyson as Zack Vasser.
