Lysol Power Toilet Bowl Cleaner Vs. 100% Natural Ecover Toilet Bowl Cleaner

General Name Brand Vs. Natural Name Brand

For around the last ten to twenty years, the toilet bowl cleaner industry has been restricted to only a handful of brands. The brand that held its own in our household was Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner. Naturally, the addition of bleach in this cleaner sounded like the best winner to remove
unwanted smells and stains that may naturally occur on the rim and bowl of the toilet. This occurred until I read an interesting article that changed my personal view of Lysol products and ventured out to search for a healthy alternative. Ecover was my natural solution to cleaning my least favorite thing in the household, the toilet.

Cancer Prevention Coalition has researched and written about many name-brand products that have the highest potential of containing carcinogens. Carcinogens are substances or agents that contain harmful chemicals that can change human cells into cancerous cells within the human body. Basically this means that some everyday household products have been noted as causing cancer in individuals. For more information please see House of Cancer, an article written exclusively about carcinogens and cancer. So, once I saw Lysol on the list of potentially harmful products, I knew a stand had to be taken to eliminate this product in our household.

One of the newest name brand products in our neighborhood is Ecover. Ecover is an internationally recognized company that works towards manufacturing quality products without any negative influence on the environment. At first I was a skeptical of using 100% natural products to clean, since bleach has always been known in my household to take away the unwanted bacteria efficiently. After trying the Ecover All Purpose Cleaner, my opinion of the company's quality levels was of the extremely positive. It was only natural I would try to get Ecover Toilet Bowl Cleaner into our household for a test run.

Very well reviewed, and I was, thankfully, surprised by the results. I would have thought the all natural product would have cost a lot more than it does. The fact that it actually works as well, or better, than Lysol is great to know. I always hated the smell of Lysol anyway - Lily

Great review. I usually seem to gravitate to anything with Lysol in the name wonder why?

Really good comparison. The warnings on conventional toilet bowl cleaners have always freaked me out a bit.

Thank you for this review. I am always of the mindset that products containing bleach, etc. are better cleaners. I'm learning, and your article has confirmed that, this is not necessarily true. I hope you write more articles like this.
