General Name Brand Vs. Natural Name Brand
Shamefully I have to admit that I ended up going away on vacation without cleaning our two toilets beforehand. When my family and I returned, we were surprised with the unwanted smell and stains that had matured duringComparison of the two products:
Lysol Power Toilet Bowl Cleaner:
*Comes out a blue color
*Contains bleach
*Kills germs such as Salmonella and Escherichia coli
*Will not harm plumbing or septic systems
*Brightens as it cleans
*Use 6 oz to clean one toilet
*Soak toilet for five minutes
*Kills germs
*Child resistant cap
*No specific scent however comes off smelling like bleach
*Costs around $6.00 for around 24 oz.
Ecover Toilet Bowl Cleaner:
*100% natural plant based ingredients, not based on petrochemical ingredients
*Pine Fresh
*Safe for septic systems
*No chemical residue
*100% biodegradability: bottle and fluid cleaner
*Safe for river and marine life
*No animal testing
*Use only a small squirt around the bowl and rim: around 3 oz
*General cleaning does not require brushing
*Child Resistant cap
*Costs around $4.00 for 25 fl oz
Amazingly I found that the Ecover toilet bowel cleaner worked just as effectively as the Lysol brand, if not better. Here are my results:
Child Resistant Cap: The Ecover has an easy to open child resistant cap incomparable to the Lysol brand cleaner. Lysol caps are extremely hard to open and have occasionally spilled all over the place, including my clothes which were then ruined from the chemicals.
Nozzle: The Ecover cap comes completely off the bottle unlike the Lysol bottle. Sometimes when I use the Lysol bottle I twist the cap to close the bottle and some of the chemicals come out onto my hands. This is not the case with Ecover since the cap comes completely off and exposes a tiny nozzle around the size of an eraser on a pencil. Hence, the smaller nozzle was able to get into the tiny un-rim of the inside of the toilet.
