Grey's Anatomy Star Kate Walsh Has Her Own Private Practice

Kate Walsh is about to kick off what is said to be ABC's most anticipated premier of the year. Kate is best known for her role on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Addison Montgomery. However, starting this Wednesday, September 24th, Dr. Addison moves to a new primetime television series Private Practice. The goal of this show? A spin-off without being Grey's Anatomy 2.

Last season on Grey's Anatomy, Dr. Addison found herself wanting a baby and to find love. She is 39 years old and looking for a better answer in life. She was rejected Chief of Staff because work would have become her life, as the current Chief had found after his marriage started to fail. So Dr. Addison has set out to start over and discover what life means.

What can sum up Private Practice? Private Practice is a drama that still revolves around medicine, but these folks know they aren't getting any younger. Creator Shonda Rhimes told EW it's "all the drama without the surgery. These people are a little bit more grown-up."

On Walsh's run on Grey's, she was only intended to stay for a few episodes. After breaking Derek's heart, she stole ours. Kate had become one of our favorite Grey's characters.

Rhimes had come up with an idea during negotiating to spin-off her character. Rhimes wanted to take her character to the next level, parting her from the typical Grey's cast and giving her her own story.

"I think it's a great idea for her character. Dr. Addison always seemed so incomplete and almost mysterious, a woman who longed for something more," says long-time fan of Grey's, Margo Coulier. "I will be watching to see Addison dancing around enjoying herself as they showed in previews."
