The Mars Corporation has decided to take community service to the next level. According to a press release, Mars North America is attempting to deploy more than 12,000 associates to better their respective communities all in one day.The Mars Corporation does not take its commitment to the companies Five Principles lightly. According to the press release, the Five Principles, Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency and Freedom are at the basis of company community visions.
The press release stated, the Mars Corporation has concentrated its community efforts over the past years, with this final push coinciding with the launch of a brand new website for the company. The website located at www.mars.com, offers an intricate vision of space and Earth with a flash action experience. From the main page of the site, you can access Mars Locations, History, Jobs, News and a Mars In Action Tab which offers more information on the companies Five Principles.
The new Mars Corporation website claims to be more user-friendly than the previous site and hopes to welcome visitors from all over the world. The site offers five videos, each corresponding to one of the Five Principles. Some speculation exists as to why the company has put so much time and money into a new website release, but the company claims they are simply beginning the process of merging all the companies subsidiaries under the main Mars name. The merge will happen later this year.
The Mars Volunteer Program Day or MVP Day will consist of various community activities, according to the press release. Activities will include volunteering at pet shelters, food banks and the Boys and Girls club in Cleveland, Tennessee. From Ontario to Las Vegas, NV, the press release stated, employees of the Mars Corporation will turn their efforts to the Earth and give a little back.
According to the press release, Michelle Weese, the Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs with Mars North America, believes the Mars Volunteer Program Day will, "[demonstrate] our top-down commitment to our principles." She goes on to state in the release, "Mars North America is unique."
