If you don't have an anemone, you Clownfish will not die because of it, it will simply find a different place to hide. You can purchase anemones from any pet store, they are very popular. The Bulb anemone will often times cost you around twenty five dollars. You can place it in a tank with hard and soft coral without any problems. Like most type of soft coral and polyps, the Bulb Anemone will need to have Iodine and Trace Elements added to the water. You can purchase these supplements from your local pet store for around $6 per bottle.
The Bulb Anemone will need to be placed somewhere in the middle of the tank because it needs a decent amount of light. It also need some good moving water to pass over it so that it does not get covered in algae. If it remains covered in algae it will often times start to decay. You will want to pull the excess algae off of the tentacles so that it does not harm the anemone.
If you have a canister filter you shoot the power head close to the area where the anemone is located to make sure it has a good amount of water movement. If you have a somewhat decent lighting system you will want to place the anemone at the top of the tank. You might want to save this area for your hard corals but if you don't have any you can place the anemone there. The Bulb Anemone is a great choice for somebody who wants Clownfish, has Clownfish or just wants some type of color and decoration in their saltwater tank.
