Online schools are everywhere and you can take an online course for almost everything that you can in the real world. Writing schools or course is no exception to learning online. I studied over a few of them and realized that each one played a different part in writing and each one was unique in their own way. These tips will help you to choose an online writing course that best fits your needs.

What type of writing course are you looking for?

This is the first question that you need to ask yourself. There are courses on freelance writing, writing short stories, fiction writing, news reporting, and many other courses. One course that I found of interest was a course on marketing your own work. There are even courses for writing that will help you to freshen up on your grammar and help you to escape writer's block. Once you answer this, you will know what type of course that you are looking for and therefore you can move on to the next part of this article.

How do the courses interact?

The reason that this one is so important is that a lot of online courses do work through email or forum rooms. There are also those who use live chat rooms so that they can work with you live. A live course will usually require each member to participate at the same time during the day and this may not be the best option for you. If you choose to interact through email or other means of communication that is not real time, you will be able to do the work in your own time but you may be waiting impatiently for an answer to a question that you asked the instructor.

Does the course offer college credit?

Some online courses will offer college credit for the completion of the course. These can be more expensive than one that does not but if you are trying to get you Masters in Fine Arts then an online course that offers college credit could be worth the extra money.

What can I afford and what do I need to freshen up on?
