Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or George W. Bush: Who is Crazier?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or George W. Bush: Who is more likely to wind up in an insane asylum? Okay, we know the answer to that; but who deserves to wind up in an insane asylum? That one is less clear cut.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that the Holocaust did not actually take place, despite the fact that there is an abundance of evidence to the contrary.

George W. Bush told America there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, despite the fact that he knew full well there were no WMDs anywhere near Baghdad or Tikrit, like Donald Rumsfeld said.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that there are no homosexuals who live inside the borders of Iran, despite the fact that this would create a situation in which Iran is the only country in the world that does not produce gays.

George W. Bush believes homosexuals do exist, but he does not believe they are fully equitable with heterosexual people. At least, I can only suspect this is the case since he has consistently stated he would deny rights that are extended to straights to also be extended to gays. So while George W. Bush may not be insane enough to think there are no gays in America, he is insane enough to believe they are subhuman. After all, he wouldn't let monkeys marry each other any more than he'd let gays, though apparently there was a monkey or ape in his own genetic history not too far back in time.

The thing is that after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke at Columbia Univ., American broadcasters and commentators couldn't resist using words like insane and nuts and crazy and detached from reality. These are words that I never hear the mainstream media use when describing a man who thinks America is "kicking ass" in Iraq, or that the economy is going gangbusters, or that, well, Iraq tried to procure yellow cake from Niger even though he knew full well it was a lie. At every step along the way in his term of office, Pres. Bush has consistently used words that indicate he is no more in touch with reality than Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. In fact, one might well argue that since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was raised in a culture that is itself out of touch with reality, Pres. Bush is even more insane.

I agree that the fundamentalist George Bush regime obviously believes that homosexual American citizens are subhuman. And since the fundamentalist Ahmadinejad regime executes homosexuals in Iran, any remaining homosexuals are likely to be in deep hiding due to the fear of being killed. Surely the creationists will see the error in creating "leaders" with tiny balls and empty craniums...not right away of course, since true enlightenment seems to be a function spedific to the evolutionary process.

Absolutely brilliant.

Tim, as inclined as I am to generally agree with your premise this article does a real disservice to the discussion that needs to take place in this country.

Good points. I can't see how insulting another nation's leader by name calling helps solve the issues. Media should be respectful enough to consistently avoid ad hominem attacks and to focus on facts. Maybe they were just too lazy to research the issues and demonstrate that there was a Holocaust, there are homosexuals in Iran, and there are no WMDs in Iraq.

They are two men who see themselves as guided by their god to lead their people to "glory." The problem is, in both of their visions, there is only room for "true beleivers."
